The conditions offered to citizens who are not members of the European Union in order to obtain a work and residence permit in Greece are as listed below:

• To be born within the borders of Greece
• Being an EU citizen and wanting to live within the borders of Greece
• Marrying a Greek citizen
• Investing within the borders of Greece
• Going to Greece for educational purposes
• Buying property worth 250 thousand Euros in Greece

The main applicants parents, spouse, and children under the age of 21 are also allowed to have a residence permit. Obtaining a residence permit can take up to 6 weeks, whilst the citizenship application process takes up to 7 years. Citizens with a Greece Residence Permit are granted the right to free movement (travel without a visa) within the European Union member countries on a Schengen visa.
